Eklektikos: Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys

May 25, 2007 12:23 pm by: John Aielli

Steve Riley grew up in the prairie town of Mamou where French is spoken on the street and the national holiday is Mardi Gras. Riley formed the Mamou Playboys in the late 80’s, blending traditional Cajun music with what they’ve self-penned as New Cajun music and setting new standards for the dance floor. 2005’s Domino explores traditional French music with the contemporary Cajun that it spawned. Put on your dancin’ shoes and stomp to Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys when they performed live Friday, May 25th on Eklektikos before their show at the Oaks in Manor.
