Charlie Louvin Live
As part of our SXSW 2007 Music Festival celebration, Folkways welcomed Charlie Louvin to Studio 1A.
Born Charlie Elzer Loudermilk in 1927 Alabama, and later becoming one-half of the Louvin Brothers, Charlie Louvin defined close-harmony duet singing in country music as fans know it today. After the brothers disbanded in 1963, Charlie recorded for Capitol Records until the mid ‘70s, while writing a couple Top Ten hits. His latest recording Charlie Louvin (2007) puts him in the studio with Jeff Tweedy and Elvis Costello, among others.
