Jimmie Dale Gilmore

Originally from the small West Texas town of Tulia, TX, Jimmie Dale Gilmore embraces traditional country, folk, blues, and rock with his warm, tender voice. He grew up writing and performing with Texans Butch Hancock and Joe Ely, who turned Gilmore on to the music of Townes Van Zandt and served as a revelation for shaping Gilmore’s musical approach. With a solid body of solo releases since 1988, Gilmore released 2005’s Come on Back to honor the passing of his father. He’s working on a new set of songs, and he played them live on Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
