December 7, 2006 12:00 pm by: John Aielli

Rumor has it that Texas singer/songwriter James McMurtry was discovered by John Mellencamp, while the pop star was working on a film written by literary icon and James’ father Larry McMurtry. Regardless, James and his road band the Heartless Bastards tour to make albums and make albums to tour. 2005’s Childish Things won Album of the Year and single “We Can’t Make it Here” took Song of the Year at last year’s Americana Music Awards in Nashville.
