Regina Spektor Performed Live

November 10, 2006 11:05 am by: John Aielli

Regina Spektor listened to Western pop-rock and learned to play the piano in her birthplace of Moscow, Russia before becoming a veteran of New York’s anti-folk scene. She attended SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory as a classical pianist, but blues and jazz had the biggest influence on her self released debut in 2001. This year’s “Begin to Hope” is more conventional but still retains the unique charm Spektor’s music is known for and loved. We heard Regina Spektor live in Studio 1A before her show at Antone’s.
