The Court and Spark

July 14, 2006 1:00 pm by: John Aielli

Formed around the nucleus of Scott Hirsch, Alex Stimmel, James Kim, and lead vocalist M.C. Taylor, San Francisco-based The Court and Spark take cues from the classic sounds of the early country-rock era but transcend roots-rock revivalism for a more sonically progressive sound. 2001’s Bless You features contributions from ex-Byrd and Flying Burrito Brother Gene Parsons. They experiment with different genres, incorporating indie rock, jazz, classical, and electronica influences on this year’s Hearts. The Court and Spark performed live at noon on Eklektikos.
