World Party
Karl Wallinger of Wales was a member of 80’s Celtic-rock group the Waterboys before forming World Party. Wallinger’s one-man band released Private Revolution in 1987 with the help of Sinead O’Connor, and the song “Ship of Fools” was destined to become a hit before the album hit shelves. A rotating cast of nicknamed players make up World Party, whose sound incorporates influences from Prince, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and Dylan. But in the end it’s all about Wallinger’s pen and crafty approach.
