“Our programs present a prime opportunity for the KUT listener… it enables them to get involved at a grassroots level. The demographic profile of KUT listeners encompasses the ideal volunteer in the sense that they understand the societal impact of NOT helping the children in our community who need an extra hand. These individuals know that by helping just one child do something more with their lives will in turn benefit the immediate community, the city and the country. The KUT listener is involved in the community whether it is via a time commitment or a financial commitment. They truly care about the issues affecting us all and want to help. An example of this was when KUT recently ran a very short (10-15 seconds) spot about our agency’s first Katrina evacuee match with a Big Brother. It ran during All Things Considered and our phones began ringing immediately with listeners wanting to be a Big Brother or Big Sister. It was great.”
