The Winter of our Dyscontent
Every now and then, the folks at Dystheatre will decide to have a Dysfunction, in which they invite all their friends and colleagues in the performing arts scene to come out and play. Their newest Dysfunction (presented with Lucky Chaos) is The Winter of Our Dyscontent, a veritable smorgasbord of Shakepeare-themed performance pieces by a dozen different Austin troupes. The show will feature all different takes on the works of the bard; there’s a dog playing Hamlet, dancers reciting competing sonnets, a puppet Shakespeare lesson, a Noh-inspired take on The Tempest, three different versions of Richard III, and lots more.
The show has two more performances later this month at the Spiderhouse, with more Dysfunctions to come as time and inspiration permit.

Tuesday Podcast 3/19/13
Hey, it’s the last day of winter! Which means it’s going to be in the 80s today and then slightly colder tomorrow, when it becomes spring. I don’t understand that at all, but then I’m not a meteorologist, I’m just a radio producer. And here’s what I’ve produced for today:
The cast will start off with The Harmonica, a nice little something something from the fine folks at Stories from Deep in the Heart, a project of Austin’s own Texas Folklife.
Then we’ll move right along to a new installment of The Decisions Project from O’Dark stalwart Aengus “Aengus with an E” Anderson. Cool stuff as always from Aengus and his E.
And then we’ll wrap things up with a visit from everyone’s favorite retired Belgian physicist, Charles Spira. It’s a new edition of his French popular music show Bonjour Chanson. Dig it.

Friends Say Goodbye to Civic Leader Mary Margaret Farabee
Friends and family of local philanthropist and Texas book festival co-creator Mary Margaret Farabee met this morning at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. They were there to remember a woman who they say made Austin a better place to live.
Farabee’s work in Austin spanned much more than her high profile creation of the book festival. From rebuilding the Paramount Theater to placing the Philosopher’s Rock statue in Zilker Park, she had a hand in helping numerous projects succeed. Her friend Nona Niland read some descriptions that friends had sent in on how Farabee worked.
